Technically, it's not a seaside course.
But Lake Michigan sure looks ocean-sized as you wind along its shoreline, on a layout perched high atop the bluffs.

But its dramatic coastal atmosphere, so rife with peril, make it feel like the backdrop for a Gordon Lightfoot song.

With 10 miles of undisturbed Atlantic beach and five world-renowned golf courses, including serving as host to the 2012 PGA Championship, it's no wonder so many visitors come to Kiawah (pronounced KEE-a-wah) Island and decide to make it their home.
Only 21 miles from historic Charleston, much of Kiawah Island, South Carolina is privately owned, but visitors are welcome! Come stay at the award-winning Sanctuary Hotel, or opt for one of the home or villa rentals.

The result: GOLF Magazine's top ranked public course in the United States.
