A Club at the Finest Meeting of Land and Sea.
Few country clubs take your breath away as does the private, Member-owned Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach, California. The most exquisite meeting of land, water and turf, MPCC sits on over 400 acres of forest, dunes and coastal landscape, a perfect setting for not one but two top-rated golf courses.
Golf: An Adventure for the SpiritMonterey Peninsula Country Club rests on some of the most dramatic terrain for golf in the world. Nowhere else has nature been so lavish with her gifts as the Monterey Peninsula - a knobby elbow of land jutting out into the Pacific 125 miles south of San Francisco. The perfect combination of Mediterranean weather, fragrant forests, ocean vistas and invigorating sea breezes makes every day an ideal day for golf at MPCC.
The Shore Course and the Dunes Course are narrative. Each hole is a unique experience with a beginning, middle and end - a story unfolding with every shot. The firm, fast and rolling fairways and firm yet receptive greens are dotted with challenging hazards, including natural ones: the Pacific Ocean and its craggy coast. Imagine teeing off over navy blue water towards the green, isolated on a protruding peninsula.
At MPCC, golf is a priority among Member experiences, supplemented by excellent food services, activities off the course and pristine facilities. Nowhere else will you find such an exquisite golf experience paired with other country club amenities.
Dunes Course
Sacred Ground
For the better part of a century, the Dunes Course, set among ancient trees and sweeping sands, has wowed and challenged MPCC Members and guests. Rich in history and tradition, the Dunes fairways are parkland style, and the course is a par 72 with 6,762 yards.
The Dunes Course was designed originally in 1924 by Seth Raynor, a well-known East Coast golf architect, but due to his untimely death, the course was finished by fellow golf course architects, Robert Hunter and Dr. Alister MacKenzie, who was also a British surgeon. The highly sought-after golf course architect, Rees Jones, son of legendary golf course architect, Robert Trent Jones, headed the Dunes Course remodel in 1998.
Setting out to make a great course greater, Jones' goal was to finish what Seth Raynor - and nature - had started by embracing the rolling terrain, opening up the course to the incredible ocean views and making the course playable more days of the year.
Using a 21st century design concept, Jones responded to the ever-changing environment and made each green a different size and contour.
"It's a golf course where you'll learn something new each time you play it," said Jones.
Possibly no one except for Jones could have envisioned the dramatic, oceanfront par-3 14th hole out of the rocks and waves from which it came. Golf enthusiasts say it is the best he has done, and he agrees; it is one of his greatest achievements.
Shore Course
A Wonderful Discovery
The Shore Course, originally designed by Robert Baldock in 1960, was redesigned in 2003. Golf course architect Mike Strantz created a truly spectacular links-type golf course, which is currently ranked #72 in golf Digest's biannual rating survey. The Shore has 6,956 yards and is a par 72.
The Shore Course is a naturally contoured, gently flowing, seaside course playing through coastal grasslands and rolling sand dunes. The redesign maximized ocean vistas and the incorporation of natural rock, while minimizing cart paths to blend in more with the existing environment.
Strantz added an exceptional drainage system called sand capping, giving the Shore Course a firm course year round.
PGA golfer, Steve Elkington told the MPCC Head Golf Professional, "Mate, this is in my top ten favorite courses in the world." And Phil Mickelson said of his experiences playing the Shore Course during the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, "Please tell your Membership how grateful the players and I are for being able to play this special course. It is now one of my favorite courses on tour."

There is a terrific new practice area designed to improve your putting and chipping game. Plus there are refurbished and strategically located cart paths that vastly improve access and transport around the golf course. Course Information

Guests must call in advance and request to play the golf course by contacting the Tournament Director, Mike Cid, at (650)603-8026. In a twist of irony, the original, very-flat course was named the ‘Hill Course' in honor of Captain Arthur S. Hill, the Commanding Officer at Moffett when the facility opened in 1959. Designed by Bob E. Baldock, the course began as a nine-hole venue before expansion to 18 holes ten years later. In 2007, improvements were made to recontoured terrain, add partial concrete car paths, bunker restoration and greens modification. The course remains at par 72, playing to a maximum of 6,572 yards from the challenging blue tees.
The Golf Club at Moffett Field is the perfect venue for employee recreational activities, whether it's a golf tournament or league, bucket of balls at the driving range, putting contest, barbeque, luncheon or after-work social. How to Play:
The opening tee shot should be kept out of the trees on the right side of the fairway. It is best to be down the left side of the fairway as this will open up the fairway for your second shot. The second shot needs be no more than two hundred yards that will keep the lake on the right side of the green out of play. The more daring can risk the green in two. Leave yourself a 100 yard third shot and all flag locations will be accesible. An opening par is a good start to begin your round.

All three courses have six tee locations allowing players to play the course at their desired comfort level.
The Arnold Palmer course was designed in 1978 and was his first design in the desert. At 6,834 yards, this course is a Member favorite. Hole Description
This par 4 is a great starting hole. With 241 yards for men and 237 for women. Although a shorter par 4, difficulty comes with the drastic left to right, side hill sloping fairway. Also beware of the front bunker protecting the majority of the green. Bigger hitters can reach the green with ease and smart play usually consists of playing the hill from left to right letting the ball funnel down to the green and avoiding the bunker. When making the turn for the back nine (hole #10) this hole plays virtually the same.
The Mill Valley Golf Club is a wonderful organization for golfers of all backgrounds and skill sets, based out of our home course, the Mill Valley Golf Course. Members of the club gather year round for competitions, monthly meetings, dinners and holiday-inspired events, to name a few. The club is truly unique in the sense that its family-like atmosphere creates a wonderful environment for all of us who truly love the game to be able to share it with those who feel the same. The MVGC offers a wide variety of membership benefits.

Mira Vista ~ An East Bay Golf & Country Club
Mira Vista is not just about playing golf, it’s about falling in love with the game. Originally designed by two of the great architects in golf history, Robert Hunter with William (Willie) K. Watson, the Mira Vista course offers an uncrowded, rewarding experience. Our course will sometimes thrill you, sometimes bewilder you, and always challenge you. Whether you’re a competitive golfer or a recreational player, the course will keep you captivated – and leave you with an itch for more.
But Mira Vista is more than just a great place to play golf. As one of the first clubs to open its membership to a diverse community, Mira Vista maintains a spirit of unpretentious camaraderie.
And all this in a location that boasts some of the most spectacular views of the San Francisco Bay Area. With a panorama of the San Francisco Bay on one side, and the rolling hills of Wildcat Canyon on the other, Mira Vista is a place to rejuvenate. We are dedicated to making Mira Vista enjoyable, accessible and affordable. Give us a ring. We’d love to hear from you.
"As a recreation for all classes, golf seems destined to become as universal as it is beneficial."
Golf Course
Robert Hunter and Willie K. Watson's vision in 1920 was to create a championship golf course in a setting with glorious views in all directions. Their vision was not only realized, but has been kept alive by generations of Bay Area golfers. Throughout its almost one hundred year history, Mira Vista has held on to the original design and historical character of the course, while enhancing the playing conditions through modern architectural influences. The end result is a mature and demanding golf course that truly tests players’ golf skills, regardless of their level.
Hunter's words about the course still apply today: “the way to the hole is often tormented and narrow… For the one-shot holes, wood, cleek, midiron and jigger must be used, and the shots must be well-night perfect to get the par."
Members can also enjoy the benefits of PGA Class A professionals on staff for private lessons and clinics, a full service pro shop, and a state of the art practice facility.
