Pinetop Lakes Golf & Country Club - Pinetop Lakes Pinetop, Arizona

Just a few hours' drive from Phoenix and Tucson, there is a land of four seasons, Arizona at its very best. Cool, dry mountain air in the summer, the turning of the leaves in the fall, snow and a cool white moon in the winter and the renewal of abundance in the spring. This is Pinetop, Arizona. It is located high in the cool and beautiful White Mountains of Arizona.

The golf course, and clubhouse are available for company or group golf, meetings or seminars, company or group dinners, cocktail parties and wedding receptions. Please let our staff of professionals help you with your plans.

HOLE 1
This beautiful dogleg right is a challenging start for golfers of all handicaps. The bold may choose driver, but those of us who are a bit more conservative will choose a long iron or fairway metal to keep the ball in play.

Aim down the left side of the fairway to have an un-obstructed shot into the green. Miss it to the right side of the fairway or right rough and you'll have to hit a pretty good slice to get it on or near the green with your approach shot.

The green is fairly level but has subtle breaks; the toughest pin placement is front right.

Papago Golf Course, The City of Phoenix, AZ

Welcome To Papago!

Papago Golf Course, owned by the City of Phoenix, AZ, was long considered the finest public golf course in the state. It was designed by well known and esteemed golf course architect William Francis (Billy) Bell, who learned his craft from his father, William Park Bell. They collaborated on many highly rated California courses. Perhaps best known among the nearly one hundred courses to Billy's credit is Torrey Pines in San Diego. He also designed Tucson Country Club and Wickenburg Country Club

About The Course

Papago Golf Course, owned by the City of Phoenix, AZ, was long considered the finest public golf course in the state. It was designed by well known and esteemed golf course architect William Francis (Billy) Bell, who learned his craft from his father, William Park Bell. They collaborated on many highly rated California courses. Perhaps best known among the nearly one hundred courses to Billy's credit is Torrey Pines in San Diego. He also designed Tucson Country Club and Wickenburg Country Club.

Papago Golf Course opened in 1963 and quickly became popular with Phoenix area residents. It hosted the US Amateur Public Links Championship in 1971, and also has been home to Phoenix Open Qualifying. In 1977 Jack Snyder, Phoenix resident and golf course architect, provided some modest redesign to Papago Golf Course. In its prime, the course hosted more than 100,000 rounds annually.

The course was closed for play on April 4, 2008 and re-opened December 2008 after a $5.8 million dollar restoration.

"I am a low handicapper and played the course from the tips. I found it (the new course) to be incredibly challenging — it is very long, extremely well bunkered, and has tough, undulated greens. When I first heard how many trees were being removed I wasn't excited, but after seeing the course I love the new views and the feel it has with some of the trees gone."

Jason Kunert, Gilbert AZ

Those who played the course in the past will be pleasantly surprised at the changes they'll find, as extensive work has delivered a new irrigation system, improved greens, fairways, bunkers, tee boxes and more. Some trees have been removed and others thinned. Those that remain ensure the original design strategies that made Papago one of Arizona's most challenging courses are retained. And those remaining trees also provide the appealing look of an established, mature course. Overall, it has retained its challenging play with strategic bunkering and hazards, and tees of varying lengths to challenge golfers of all skill levels. Those who have seen or already played the new Papago are raving about the course and the experience it is providing.

Friends old and new can now experience a scenic and challenging golf course, in a convenient, central location within 15 minutes of downtown Phoenix and Sky Harbor Airport. The course provides spectacular views of Phoenix from its unique, strategic setting at the base of Papago Buttes. Despite its convenient central location, golfers experience a setting rich with the native elements that make Arizona a unique state. And its location within Papago Park helps deliver the peace and quiet expected in a round of golf, allowing for the concentration the course's challenges warrant.

With its remarkable history ably preserved, its even more promising future and its accessibility, both geographically and financially, the reborn, revitalized Papago Golf Course is a "must play" for Phoenix-area residents and visitors to the Valley of the Sun alike.

Oakcreek Country Club - Oak Creek Sedona, Arizona

Introducing Oakcreek Country Club
Oakcreek Country Club, designed by the famous father and son team of Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Jr., can truly be described as a work of art. The par 72, 18-hole championship golf course is nestled among the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona with views beyond compare and the golf course design a masterpiece.

The golf course is a traditional layout similar to those that you may find in the midwestern United States. In the usual Trent Jones manner, the fairways are classic tree lined doglegs with fairway bunkers strategically placed in the landing areas, and the greens are all slightly elevated and surrounded with large swirling greenside bunkers. The course is "player friendly", allowing plently of room for error but always with an opportunity to recover and get errant shots back into play.

The golf course consists of 145 acres, including three lakes. Water comes into play twice on the front nine between the #1 and #9 holes. On the back nine the water comes into play on holes #13 and #16 and occasionally, on hole #15. Recent renovations to the golf course include brand new concrete cart paths and all the greenside bunkers rebuilt under the watchful eyes of the Robert Trent Jones Jr. design firm.

Mesa Country Club - Mesa Mesa, Arizona

Created in 1948, Mesa Country Club was designed by legendary golf architect William "Billy" Bell. Bell is best known for his work in San Diego at the Torrey Pines South Course and La Jolla Country Club, however his portfolio extended into Arizona at both Mesa Country Club and the renowned original design of Papago Park. In the 1970's long-time head golf professional and respected architect Richard "Dick" Turner made numerous enhancements to the original Bell design at Mesa, including adding length to several holes and moving bunkers to be in play for longer hitters (Turner performed similar work at Pinnacle Peak Country Club in Scottsdale).

The 60+ year history of the Club is evidenced by the stunning mature trees that line every fairway. The course is reminiscent of other great designs of that era, with holes that move both left and right, par-3's of a variety of lengths and orientations, and reachable risk/reward par-5's that bring eagles and "others" into play.

In addition to the towering eucalyptus which frame the course, the most notable features are the elevation changes enabled by the plateau which divides the upper and lower holes and the four "road holes" that cross the entryway to the Club. Some of the smallest greens in the state protect the course from low scores, particularly on holes like 8, 9, and 13 where the back-to-front slopes are substantial.

Beyond just independently interesting golf holes, Mesa Country Club is a compelling golf course - a story that unfolds with every new tee shot and approach. Furthermore, the course is what many others are not these days - eminently walkable. Short distances from green to tee help to keep a pace of four hours or better at all times, and the location of the clubhouse means you can play 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, or 18 holes depending on how much time you have.

If private club membership is something you are considering, we can assure you that the financial commitment will not prohibit you from becoming part of Mesa Country Club. Fundamental to our Club's sustainability has been its affordability, and we are confident you will be pleasantly surprised to learn just how accessible private club life can be.

Mesa Country Club is a Member owned and operated private facility with access limited to Members and guests of Members. To learn more about which membership might be right for you, contact us at 480-964-1797 to arrange a tour.

Moonah Link Resort

Open Course

Step into the shoes of the pros for a day and test your drive on the only course designed for the Australian Open.

"The Open Course at Moonah Links is the first ever 18 holes built and prepared for a national championship. With exceptional viewing platforms for spectators. It is one of the longest courses in Australia, and probably in the world in this category.

It measures 6783 metres, so it offers more than a casual stroll in the outdoors. It is a mighty and ferocious test of golfing ability, the likes of which even the top pros only occasionally experience. In terms of difficulty, I estimate a club-handicapped player would merit an extra eight strokes assistance to return a net par score, yet the course has great flexibility. It can be played at many different lengths depending on tees selected.

Indeed, it is expected that the total length will only seldom be used for the real championship occasion.

In addition to its condusive natural contours, the site is blessed with ever-present wind of some direction and strength, and this enhances its attributes. Planning has arranged that no particular direction is especially helpful, it is always a factor.

The Leviathan of a course is a new experience for Australian golf. Visitors will get a whiff of what top championship play is really like."

Peter Thomson - 5 times British Open Champion.
Legends Course

The Legends Course stands as a tribute to past champions who have contributed to the rich history of Australian golf."

"In contrast to the Open Course, which was purpose built to challenge the modern champion, the Legends Course will be a more friendly golfing experience for players of all ages and abilities.

The course is a loop of 18 holes that generally follow the valleys through a variety of landscapes ranging from ancient Moonah woodlands to open links land. The fairways are generous and the putting surfaces gentle, but the bunkering style is bold and wild in appearance.

At 6,315 metres, the course should be fun, but it won't be a pushover.

We trust the Legends Course will do justice to the champions it honours and will inspire others to emulate their feats."
