Two Magnificent Courses:
The game of golf was meant to be played at Rancho Murieta, one of the premier golf courses in Northern California. Every fairway, every hole, and every hazard is defined by its exquisite natural surroundings. You’ll find two superb courses here, the North Course and the South Course. The former opened in 1971 and was originally designed by Bert Stamps and redesigned in 1986 by Arnold Palmer, and the latter by Ted Robinson, a designer of 170 courses worldwide.
In October 1985 the first professional event called the Showdown at Rancho Murieta was held on the North Course. Craig Stadler and Alice Miller won $105,000 of the $195,000 prize pool from a field including Fred Couples, Juli Inkster, Fuzzy Zoeller and more. From 1987 to 1996, the North Course also held the Senior PGA Tour Gold Rush Classic where professional golfers like Bob Charles, Orville Moody, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino participated.
The South Course opened in 1979 and offers golfers of all capacities a challenging and sublimely satisfying experience. At 6,865 yards, a 73.2 rating, a 131 slope and with 68 bunkers and water on 10 of the holes, every player’s encounter with the South Course will offer new rewards each time it is played. Rancho Murieta also features a driving range, two putting greens and a practice chipping and sand hole.
